Epic Assignment and EdPuzzle

I have added two new assignments in Google Classroom.

The first one is a new app that we haven’t tried yet. It’s called EdPuzzle. You will watch the video and answer the questions throughout the video! Make sure you are paying attention!

The next assignment is a story in Epic called Abigail the Whale  and a Flipgrid about the story.

Be looking for your new Choice Board that I will post Sunday afternoon. This choice board will have new skills about Folktales on there along with Spelling Words and new Vocabulary words on Quizlet.

I am SO proud of each one of you and all the hard work you are putting in at home! I can’t wait to see you and hug your necks!

Love,

Mrs. Skeen

Click the link to access it. There are 3 Google slides to complete. Can’t wait to read your stories that you come up with!

There is also an assignment in Flocabulary about Parts of Speech. This can also be found in Google Classroom.

Here is another video to watch about Parts of Speech.

Trying Something New!

Parents,

Mrs. Hamrick and I are excited to try something new! Remember, this is new territory for ALL of us. We have seen great success with other teachers having a Facebook Group. With that being said, we have a PRIVATE Facebook group that we want you to join.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/2476633275980904/?ref=share

If you do not have Facebook, that is okay. We will be posting the same information on our Blogs, Google Classrooms, and Remind.

We are just trying to reach as many kiddos as we can. Again, please remember when we post activities and assignments this is not to be stressed over and does not need to be completed in one setting. If your child is reading 20 minutes a day and doing math 20-30 minutes a day, that is sufficient enough for us.

New packets were made yesterday and are now available for pickup at the school(this is two weeks worth of work). Feel free to email Mrs. Hamrick and myself if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT

Hey class! As of March 25, 2020 at 7:00 PM, there are NEW packets that you can pickup at the school. Remember, this is not to be done ALL AT ONCE. This is work for two weeks. I will also be posting another Choice Board for next week with assignments to do, too. If you are doing the Google Classroom assignments then that is great. However, the packet has new Math material in it that you will need to start practicing. Make sure you are reading Mrs. Hamrick’s blog post, too. I miss you all SO very much!

I enjoyed seeing all of your faces on our ZOOM meetings. I look forward to our next one NEXT WEEK. We will let you know ASAP when it has been scheduled.

BookFlix

BookFlix is like NETFLIX, but with Books! How amazing is that? Our students have used this in the classroom before.

I did see that EPIC now is charging a fee to be used. It was free before all of this virus took place. So, let’s try to use BookFlix instead.

Choose a book on BookFlix and write a new ending for your story. Comment below and tell me which book you chose! (This assignment is posted in my Google Classroom, too).

Google Classroom Sign In

Parents,

If you need help logging into our Google Classroom please let me know.

https://classroom.google.com/

This is where you can view everything that we’ve covered this year. Your child knows how to navigate Google Classroom and knows where to find all of our activities. I have posted a Choice Board for them to complete this week and I will post another one for next week on Sunday afternoon.

I have posted another assignment about Prefixes and Suffixes through Flocabulary. It will ask them to sign in using their Google Accounts. Again, if you need this information please message me on Remind OR email me at [email protected]

I miss all my sweet kiddos and I cannot wait to see them in a few short weeks! I know you are doing your best to teach them at home and keep them in a routine. Remember, this is all new territory for ALL of us. We will make this work! Please know that when I post these assignments they are optional.

Love,

Mrs. Skeen

When A Dragon Moves In

https://www.storylineonline.net/books/when-a-dragon-moves-in/

Apparently if you build the “perfect” sand castle then a dragon would move it! Listen to the story read aloud to you. Then, I want you to draw your “perfect” sand castle. Make sure you write to tell me what makes it “perfect”. Please include the following:

  • Adjectives describing your castle
  • Where would I find this castle?
  • Give me specific details on how you made the castle.
  • Don’t forget to include your picture of your PERFECT sand castle!

You can read your writing to me and post your picture here on our classroom Flipgrid!

Can you unscramble all of these words?

Word Scramble -When A Dragon Moves In
